Jessica Purmort is a research associate for the Making Work Supports Work initiative. Building on NCCP's Family Resource Simulator and Basic Needs Budget Calculator, this initiative analyzes the current patchwork of federal and state programs that assist low-income working families and explores policy alternatives. Jessica also coordinates NCCP's Family Economic Security policy profiles and 50-state database, which provide specific policy information relating to family economic security, including state-level policy decisions and recipient and spending information.

Prior to joining NCCP in November 2006, Jessica was a research assistant at the New York Academy of Medicine, where her work focused on the implementation of an asthma intervention in subsidized preschools. Jessica holds a master's degree in public health from Columbia University and a BA in sociology and Latin American studies from Brown University.
