Kalyani Thampi is a research analyst with the Family Economic Security team. She assists in the development of research and policy briefs that focus on low-income work attachment and advancement, income adequacy, and asset development. She also analyzes state and federal policies that promote economic security and explores opportunities for policy reforms as part of the Making Work Supports Work project.

Kalyani brings a varied experience in policy research, program development, and advocacy to her work at NCCP. Most recently, Kalyani managed the statewide Paid Family Leave campaign in New York . As a senior policy organizer for the Center for Working Families, she researched and advocated for state policy reforms on issues ranging from living wage laws to fair share health care. Kalyani also worked at Seedco, a national workforce and economic development nonprofit, where she helped develop the EarnBenefits program, an asset-building strategy designed to connect low wage workers to critical work supports and public benefits.

Kalyani holds a BA in English from Vassar College.
