Yumiko Aratani, PhD

Dr. Yumiko Aratani began her postdoctoral research at NCCP in August 2006. She is currently a Senior Research Associate and serves as the Data Analyst for Unclaimed Children Revisited, a series of policy and impact analyses of mental health services for children, adolescents, and their families. Yumiko is also a Principal Investigator for a pilot project that examines the educational outcomes of runaway and homeless youth, funded by the Columbia University Center for Homeless Prevention Studies (CHPS).

Her research has focused on the role of housing in stratification processes, parental assets and children's well-being.

Yumiko received her Ph.D. in Sociology from Columbia University. She holds a Master's degree in Education from Boston University and a B.A. in Sociology from Tokyo Woman's Christian University.
