Akilah Moore is a Researcher for NCCP, where she is working on projects to improve state-level public benefit supports, immigration policies, and early childhood systems. In the past she has worked as a Family Program Coordinator at a homeless shelter and a Grants Specialist through AmeriCorps at a nonprofit that focuses on K-12 education. Her most recent role was as a Registrar Coordinator for a graduate school that prepares teachers and school leaders. She has a B.A. in Deviant Behavior and Social Control from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a Masters in Higher Education Administration from Stony Brook University. She is currently working on her Doctorate in Education in Higher Education Leadership from Maryville University. Her focus is on community colleges and students from low-income backgrounds.
