Strengthening Families’ Access to NYC Early Care & Education Programs that Meet Families’ Needs

This project examines how community-based organizations (CBOs) participating in a New York City funded initiative are helping families learn about and enroll in early care and education (ECE) programs. The project will gather in-depth information through interviews with CBO staff, parents, and ECE program directors to identify promising strategies that connect families to available ECE seats, the challenges they encountered, and recommendations for improving the enrollment process, especially for families facing barriers to ECE access. The project will also engage key stakeholders including policymakers, advocates, and community leaders in using the findings to advance solutions that expand ECE access, address under-enrollment, and improve systems and supports. Ultimately, the goal is to contribute to a stronger, more equitable ECE system that meets the needs of all NYC families.
